French architect, son of the architect Jean Courtonne. His most important work was the construction of the new château de Villarceaux (1755-1759), one of the last building built in the style Louis XV. He was the architect of the Prince of Conti between 1749 and 1761. He received the third prize of the Académie royal d'architecture in 1733 and 1738 ("a triumphal arch"). As architect of the Prince of Conti, he realized new constructions of the Palais du Temple in Paris, and in 1754 he transformed the château de L'Isle-Adam. //
