German painter. He was a pupil of Johann Alexander Thiele (1685-1752). He lived in the Netherlands from 1740 to 1760 and reached the peak of his career in the 1750s. The subjects of his works are landscapes, in particular Italian and winter landscapes, views of the Rhine and Switzerland, with figures and animals. Some of his paintings were engraved. //
