Dutch painter, part of a family of painters, specialised in landscapes. He was the son of Dirck Dalens II. He was born in 1688 after the death of his father, and continued the family's 150-year tradition of landscape painting into the fourth generation. He died in 1753, sixty-five years after the death of his father. Dirck Dalens III was often commissioned to paint wall paintings in houses of the nobility; there are, for example, the landscape series in the Groen van Prinster-house at the Vijverberg, The Hague and the Dalens-kamer in the Van Brienenhuis, The Hague. In addition, he painted a few decorative winter landscapes. //
