David (or Daniel) Colijns (or Colyn), Dutch painter, son of the painter Crispiaen Colijn (1547-1618). Possibly as early as 1607 he was in Amsterdam, where he was married on 27 August 1616. He was active in Amsterdam between 1606 and 1666 and worked in many genres. He is known for painting mythological and biblical scenes. He served as a member of an Amsterdam guild (most likely St. Luke's), and he was the teacher of Jacob Koninck (c. 1616-c. 1699) and Salomon Koninck. //
