Pruckendorfer belonged to the Danube school, an artistic movement emerged along the Danube in Germany and Austria during the first half of the sixteenth century. The most famous representatives of the Danube School are Albrecht Altdorfer in Regensburg, Wolf Huber in Passau, and Lucas Cranach the Elder in Saxony.
