Details

Italian architect and engineer. He was a Neoclassical architect and a romantic landscape gardener. He studied at the Clementine Academy in Bologna and he was a pupil of Giovanni Antonio Selva (1751-1819). In 1836-37, he traveled to France and England, an experience that would be formative on his career as a park architect. His best-known work is the Caffè Pedrocchi in Padua. Among his other projects are several buildings in Padua: the Macello (slaughterhouse, 1821), University city (1824), prison (1822), Teatro Verdi (1847). Furthermore, he executed several projects including parks around Padua: Villa Valmarana, Saonara; Villa Selvatico-Capodilista, Rivella; Grand Hotel Orologio in Abano Terme. //
