Italian painter, active in Naples. He specialized in still-lifes, mainly dead games, but painted also flower pieces. He was a pupil of Andrea Belvedere, an active figure of the Neapolitan school of still-life painting represented by Paolo Porpora and Giovanni Battista Ruoppolo. Baldassere de Caro was also influenced by Spanish Bodegones and Flemish painters such as Frans Snyders, Jan Fyt and Abraham Brueghel. For some years, he found patronage and favour with the Bourbon court of Naples. This success would not last as his style finally became too old fashioned. He repeated his works in many copies. His sons Giuseppe and Lorenzo were also still-life painters. //
