He is known as the builder of some "fancy" buildings such as the Hermitage (erected in 1796 by Friedrich Wilhelm II near the Cecilienhof in the Neues Garten on the "Am Quapphorn" land projecting in the Jungfernsee in Potsdam) and the castle folly on Pfaueninsel in Berlin (1794-97). //
