Details

French painter. He studied under his father Jean Boyer. In his early career, he enjoyed the patronage of Abbott Melchior de Polignac. He studied at Rome in 1689, where he followed the tradition of still-lifes of musical instruments presented on carpets, developed in a decorative Baroque style by the Bergamo painter Evaristo Baschenis. One still-life depicting a bass, music book and sword (Paris, Musée du Louvre, signed and dated 1693) attests his activity in this field. Boyer became a member of the Académie Royale de Peinture in Paris on 30 April 1701. //
